Creating and using notebooks

Create notebooks in NoteCore to explore, document, and share analysis safely.

When to use this​

  • Use it when an analysis needs reproducible steps.
  • Use it to combine querying, transformation, and explanation in one place.
  • Use it when the result has to be reviewed by other authorized people.

Before you start​

  • Open your workspace.
  • Define the analysis's objective.
  • Confirm the data you need has been released.

Step by step​

  1. In the workspace, create a new notebook.
  2. Give the file a clear name.
  3. Add a cell explaining the analysis's objective and period.
  4. Create cells for querying and processing the data.
  5. Run it in small steps and review the results.
  6. Save the notebook at the end.

What happens next​

  • The notebook is preserved in your workspace.
  • Queries made from the notebook follow Infinite Data's access rules.
  • The file can be reviewed according to your organization's practice.

Common errors​

  • A notebook with no context: other people cannot understand the analysis.
  • Too broad a query: it can take a long time or return unnecessary data.
  • An access error: review the data rule before pressing on.

  • Explain the objective, the source, and the filters used.
  • Keep temporary exploration separate from the final analysis.
