Reviewing query history

Use QueryMesh Explorer's history to pick up analysis again, review runs, and understand recent queries.

When to use this​

  • Use it to find a query you ran earlier.
  • Use it to investigate why a result changed.
  • Use it to review your own data use before sharing an analysis.

Before you start​

  • You need to have used QueryMesh Explorer.
  • Have a rough idea of when the query ran.
  • If you are looking for someone else's query, use Audit Center or Lineage, depending on your role.

Step by step​

  1. Open QueryMesh Explorer.
  2. Go to the history tab.
  3. Use the period, text, or table filters where available.
  4. Open the query you want.
  5. Review the text before running it again.
  6. Save it as a script if the query has become recurring.

What happens next​

  • You can reuse queries without rewriting everything from scratch.
  • A new run goes through the current access rules.
  • History helps explain analysis and support auditing when needed.

Common errors​

  • Empty history: you may not have run any queries in this environment yet.
  • An old query does not run: the table or your access may have changed.
  • A different result: check the filters, the period, and the current access rules.

Good practice​

  • Turn important queries into saved scripts.
  • Review date filters before reusing old queries.
  • Do not use history as a substitute for documenting critical analysis.
