Skill groups

A skill group organizes related skills and, above all, lets you delegate their administration. By naming a skill administrator (skill_admin) for a group, you give that person the autonomy to look after the group's skills without needing the organization administrator role.

What groups are for

Groups serve two purposes:

• Organization — they group skills by area, team, or domain (for example, Sales, Legal, Engineering).
• Delegation — each group has its own admins, who can manage the group's skills from the skill administrator console.

Every skill belongs to a group

Publishing a skill requires choosing a group. So create the groups before you start importing or creating skills. See Skills (governance).

The group list

The Skill groups page (/org/skill-groups) lists the organization's groups. Each row shows the name and description and leads to the detail view.

Create a group

Use Create group and provide:

1. Name — identifies the group.
2. Description — the scope or the responsible team.

The group starts empty: you add skills and admins in the detail view.

The Skills card controls which skills belong to the group:

• Add — includes an unassigned skill (a skill belongs to one group at a time).
• Remove — removes the skill from the group.

Admins

The Admins card defines who administers the group:

• Add — promotes a user (skill_admin or org_admin) to administrator of this group.
• Remove — revokes that assignment.

Who can be a group admin

You assign as group admins users with the skill administrator or organization administrator role. A person's role is set in Users & roles.

The skill administrator's view

Anyone with the skill_admin role enters the console at /skill-admin and finds My Groups (/skill-admin/groups): the list of groups where they've been named admin. From there, they manage the skills of only those groups — create/import, edit prompt, version, archive — without access to the rest of the organization's administration.

Delegate without opening the whole console

Use groups to distribute skill maintenance across teams. The skill administrator looks after what's theirs; the organization administrator keeps the broad governance (users, profiles, policies, credentials).
